Just one last question before we wrap up...

Parents are stable.
Parents are givers, sustainers of life.
Parents give hope.
Parents are donors of love.
Parents are the foundations of our moral characters.
Parents are our emotional anchors.

So what happens when they're not?

When the parents aren’t all that they just aren’t…maybe they change for the better, maybe they don’t, maybe they’re sorry, maybe they aren’t…and what happens to their offspring I think depends on some freak combination of their DNA and their perception of what they’ve experienced…we’ve all seen the kids with losers for parents turn that around and astound everyone and we’ve seen the ones that just go all the way down because of it. I think with my personality I wouldn’t have stood a chance if my parents were losers.
Hey, I’m here by way of Phish’s site, btw (where in hell is he anyway???)…seen you there. Got a kick out of your Hair and Ranty Martins pieces. Not to be pushy, but I could do with some more…

Gauri, I suppose mistakes are allowed. But it's so important to realise you're making them, no?

Miss Alister, count yourself lucky then. I think people who have great parents and people who have great kids never quite realise how much of a rarity it is.
